Wow! It’s been a hot second since a blog has been posted! Seriously, it’s felt like a part of my heart has been missing this past month. I’ve missed writing & I’ve missed connecting with readers through the exploration of faith.
I’m so happy that HDWN? Is FINALLY out again! It feels like the start of a new, awesome chapter.
This adventure started with weekly posts discussing faith, the Old Testament, and practical habits to encourage spiritual productivity and growth. Of course, these types of topics will still be discussed through this blog. However, there is even more to explore as the blog continues to grow and evolve…
Recently, I’ve come to understand on an even deeper level how important it is to be “in the world, not of the world.” Consider the world we live in today - we live in an increasingly divided country, ravaged currently by natural disasters, fake news, and a broken government. We live in a world where comparison fueled by social media is at an all time high. We live in a world where everything seems to turn upside down, right side up, and upside down again so fast it causes whiplash. The challenges seem more and more daunting as the hours pass. As uncomfortable and chaotic as this world may seem, these are two of the commands we receive from the Word about how we are to go out into the world:
Ephesians 6:13-17: “For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God.”
As Christians, when we see darkness and decay in the world, we have to go on the offense, not the defense. We have Christ - the ultimate Savior, Protector, Friend, and Sacrifice - on our side. Out of love, respect, and honor for our Lord, we have to be salt & light… salty & lit! It’s because of this, that you might see the blog take an even deeper dive into the “real” world and the “real” walk of a Christian in said world. I want this to be a space where faith is explored honestly and openly… a space where we look at this broken world for what it is and say, “Jesus, I want to do something about this. Send me.”
So next Monday, tune in to discuss why your vote this November matters and how to navigate an election season as a Christian.
Thank you for being here, and for being brave enough to explore your faith.
I can’t wait for what’s to come! Tune in every MONDAY for HDWN?
